Sarbani
Ghosh

Painting and collage combine in the works of Sarbani Ghosh, exploring the murky in-between place of myth, dreams, and reality. Tiny silhouetted figures interact with vast landscapes that appear to swirl chatoically or open portal-like to incredible vistas. Paralleling and referencing the interplay of seen and unseen forces in Eastern beliefs, in particular Tibetan Buddhism and Balinese myth, shapes oscillate between representation and abstraction and reflect an inner path or search. “What if the ancient and future are interlinked?” she asks. “What is enlightenment and what would you sacrifice to attain it?”
